Sickly Hedgehog, Decorating, and Pink Pony Club Gay Frogs
Hello friends. I hope all is well. I've been working on so many different things that I think my webcomic is starting to feel a little abandoned. I usually try to finish the episode for the next week before the episode for this week goes live. I don't actually have it finished yet. I have flat color done, and I have everything ready, I just have to add the shading. The shading takes me a while to do, but I think I can get in done in a couple days. Hopefully we can get back on track.
I also thought my allergies were going wild with the constant weather changes (it was 70 degrees one day and its 30 and snowing today) but I am really starting to think that I have caught some kind of bug. I just got over the flu a month ago, so I really hope this is something I can get over quickly. My immune system is really awful, although I constantly have a crazy high white blood cell count. Hedgehog bodies are strange, especially those that are kinda human-y.
I have been setting up my office to be everything that I could want in a hang out space. I was spending too much time rotting on the couch waiting for Tamer to come home, and then hanging with him (giving him zero alone time) and then rotting on the couch again until he woke up. Rinse and repeat. It wasn't a great mental space to be in and it wasn't fair to either of us to have me constantly just waiting around for one person. So I have divided this little room into 4 sections! The litter box is in here, so thats one section. I am gonna add some funny cat posters and that will remain mostly unchanged. The area next to the littler box is my sewing desk. That is very craft-y and hedgehog themed! I really like it over there. I already had the decor for that area like: a Hedgie Quilt's sign, a hedgehog canvas, some hooks that look like big buttons for my sewing rulers, a hedgehog glitter lamp, etc. I do think soon I will order some LED string lights with hedgehogs on the lights! They'll look great. Across from the sewing area is my *giant* recliner. Its a chair and a half, I can lay across it and nap pretty comfortably. It did have the issue of holding in heat and any time you were sitting in it for an extended period you'd end up so sweaty! I got a loveseat cover (yes it is wide enough to need a loveseat cover instead of a chair cover) and its blue and matches the area well! The theme of the area is my momentos. I have a Finding Dory poster from college up there, pictures of me and my loved ones, drawings my friends have done for me, cards and messages from people over the years, etc. Its also got a bunch of my childhood stuffed animals across the back of the chair. Its a great place to feel cozy. The cover on the chair feels like I am wrapped in a blanket, but it doesn't seem to be super hot! Its a great thing. Now, next to the recliner is my *favorite* spot. My desk. The theme? Are you ready? Pink Pony Club meets gay frogs. Everything is very rainbow, pink and green, and just cute! I have posters of frogs in pink cowboy hats and pink boots. I have a fake neon light that is made of plastic and LED that is a frog with a pink cowboy hat. I have a hanging sign that says "This is a safe space to be who you are" and a cool LED cube with light options. That LED cube? Got it for $10. I am probably gonna get one (maybe 2) more for the room. They're also an emergency power bank and have a battery in them so I can take it from the base and carry it somewhere else? How cool. I'm honestly so happy to see this place come together. I need to get some new curtains (both for the window and to cover the door while still being cat-accessable) to black it out and make the LED light vibe be all day long. I saw a DIY that I want to do for the upper window to keep light from coming in. This is all just so exciting! I have rugs, posters, and more decor coming soon.
Thanks for listneing to me ramble about my room. Pics are coming soon. I made a wallpaper that is a frog with a pink cowboy hat saying "M'They'dy" and it makes me smile. Lots of glitter and disco balls. I uploaded that to the art page, go check it out. Have a good day internet!
The Care and Keeping of Hedgehogs Is No Easy Task.
Hello folks. I am trying lately to take better care of myself. This includes eating properly, having a set schedule, and trying to prevent hedgehogly hibernation. I am working really hard each day to try to give myself the best foot up possible. Us hedgehogs are a hearty breed, but man, do we require a lot. The cats of course have been a menace, nothing new there, and I have been trying to juggle them and parent them while parenting myself. Its not easy being spiky.
I spent an entire day outside waiting for a delivery (of a fancy new drawing tablet) and I got an awful sunburn. Don't forget the sunscreen, kids. The truck was going to drive past the house (as they've done many times before) but I caught them as they drove past and they stopped. They almost got the truck stuck in the mud, and then almost hit the building. That was a wild ride. Although all of that I was able to get my package and go inside and unbox. I wish I had a cool unboxing video, but I just have one where I spoke to the phone about how "I really don't want this broken" and "God, if I have to return this..." Despite all my negativity and worry, it turned out great. I have a wonderful drawing tablet and it had made creating things easier and better in general. I really like the set-up.
I am woring on making my office more welcoming, and thats been a struggle. Things are expensive! Not only do I need to pull together money for the sillier things (like cool kids RGB lights) but also I need a new keybaord now that the drawing tablet takes up most of my desk. I'll include a photo (or maybe a drawing of the photo... at least until I can remove the pictures of myself from childhood with friends and family from behind the computer and relocate them) at the bottom if I can figure that out without breaking it.
For anyone that is wondering I got a Huion 22 Plus, I got it on a great sale, still brand new, but I got quite a bit off of it. That is how I was able to justify such a large purchase. I love drawing on it and I really think that this is going to improve my art! I already notice a big difference in my line quality.
Today is grocery day, and I hate that I feel guilty every. single. time. I leave the grocery. Everything costs so much and even just getting a jug of countrytime I am kicking myself for not sticking to "necessities" and I hate this feeling. I've been on a tight budget for this stuff for a long while, but those budgets just aren't going as far these days. Plus, Bill eats a *lot* of sugar (I might be guilty too...).
I think I am going to post this, then I'll add the drawing in an hour or so. I gotta create it. But it will showcase how cool things are! I am very excited. I have a monitor arm that raises my monitor highter than the tablet angle, and it makes for a great She-Ra watching angle!
Thanks for listening to me ramble. That is all for today, take care internet peeps.

Updates, Drawing, and Bad Posture.. Oh my!
Hi. This is an area for me to just put my random things I am working on. I have a new drawing tablet coming in the mail this Friday. It has no updates for a couple days on tracking and like the anxious hedgehog that I am, I am worried. I hope it comes okay. We have issues with this delivery company, so I will be anxious until it is safely in my hands.
I have been learning a lot about shading lately. I have started working really hard on cell shading. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. It is progress though. You won't see the work until the March 19th episode, but you can see a sneak peak on my laundry drawing. That is on the art page (Maybe I should figure out how to add a search to the art page...), my blueksy, and my tumblr. Lots of places to find me.
I have been working on making my office more welcoming and a better place to be. I really want to get some LED lights to have some better lighting in here. I did get curtains to block out others being able to see in, and I got a monitor arm to free up space on my desk. So thats awesome! I really hope this can be a place that I am happy to come to. I want somewhere that I can work, and then I can leave here and go have "real life experience" time. I think it is important for people to have these areas and have a bit of a divide, although I think I am always drawing or working on something for the website, webcomic, or socials. I need a bit of a break soon. Maybe I'll read a book (John Green's "Everything is Tuberbulosis" comes out on the 18th I believe. I think that is a great time for me to spend some time reading that. I really like him as an author and I am excited to see more of his work.
I was super happy to see that my website comes up when you search "Hedgiecapped" on both google and bing! Thats awesome! I am so glad. I also see that I have about 1,500 page views. Wow! I am just hanging out, posting whatever I feel like. If you stumble across my site I'd love to hear from you in the guest book on the main page!
That's all from me tonight. Thanks for tuning in, I'll see y'all goobers around.
Edit to add: I tried to add a search function on the art page, and broke it. So its organized by the month and year I did the art. I hope that works ok. I also made another example of my shading attempts as the pancake imaage in March '25 section! Okay, bye.
